Large single-cylinder motorcycles are usually the preserve of dirt bikes and maxi scooters, but Taiwanese manufacturer Dinli thinks that the classic 'single' is ideally suited to a road bike.
Hence the Dinli DL281 and DL282 cruisers.
These water-cooled single-cylinder cruisers now own the title "World's largest capacity mass-produced single cylinder motorcycles".
Presented at the 2012 Taiwan Motorcycle Show, the twins-under-the-skin have only just been revealed and there's no word on whether they'll be exported to other regions, such as Europe or other parts of Asia.
The 750cc Dinli cruisers are powered by water-cooled, dual camshaft single-cylinder units. Bore and stroke are 106mm and 85mm respectively. Power output has not been released at this stage
Curiously, the engines are paired to a CVT, giving the cruisers fully automatic "twist and go" operation like a scooter.
Though engineering execution may not be appealing to cruiser fans, there's something to be said of the Dinli DL282's design, the first bike pictured. Featuring a sportster-like design with single a seat and neat and tidy look, the DL282 has an eye-catching matt black tank. It also comes with twin front disc brakes.
The DL281 features a glossy finish on the tank and front fender, and has ape-hanger handlebars and a split rear muffler.
