Though this motorcycle is not the all-new 2013 Triumph Daytona 675 that has been spotted testing around Triumph's UK headquarters in Hinckley, it is an updated 2012 version of the torquey super sports model.
Triumph Australia confirmed the new Daytona 675 model will be coming to Australia before Christmas, with the August-built bikes expected to roll off the boat sometime in November.
Given a mild cosmetic tweak to add a little more visual appeal until the mechanically updated model arrives later in 2012, Triumph have added a couple of new paint jobs and several minor detail tweaks.
The two new colour options are Diablo Red and Phantom Black.
Several other smaller updates bring the bike closer to the 675R in a visual sense, with a jet black bellypan, new lettering on the fuel tank and dark colouring on the footrest hangers and disc brakes.
Updates to the clutch and generator covers can also be seen (now embossed with the Triumph logo).
Power for the 2012 Triumph Daytona 675 comes from a 675cc inline three-cylinder engine that pumps out roughly 126hp (93kW) at 12,600rpm and 72Nm of torque at 11,700rpm, which is mechanically unchanged from the previous model.
The engine may not rev as high as some of its Japanese four-banger rivals, but its chunky midrange and high torque outputs are improved thanks to the triple cylinder layout.
No local pricing has been released on the updated 2012 Triumph Daytona 675 but don't expect it to change too much from the current $13,890 plus on-road costs.
