Harley-Davidson has pledged to deliver more than $70,000 worth of clothing to those who were affected by the floods, and will also raise additional funds

The devastation that has been wrought by the 2011 floods in Queensland has been immense, but the way the Australian public and businesses have responded has been remarkable. Donations have been pouring in and the latest motorcycle group to lend a hand is one of the most famous American bike brands.

Harley-Davidson Australia today announced a new initiative to help raise additional funds for the Premier’s Disaster Relief Appeal, which involves Harley Owners Group (H.O.G) Chapters from across Australia and Harley-Davidson dealers, who have banded together to raise funds until the end of February.

Furthermore, Harley-Davidson Australia’s head office has pledged to match "dollar-for-dollar" the money raised by dealers and H.O.G. The company has also promised to donate over $70,000 worth of clothing and apparel to help people affected by the floods.

"All of us in the Australian Harley-Davidson family were so overwhelmed by the devastation and anguish. We hope our contribution will help in some way. The thoughts of our staff and H.O.G members are with those families affected," says Peter Nochar, the managing director of Harley-Davidson Australia.

"The support from Australians everywhere has been terrific and the Harley-Davidson community wants to get behind a great cause and show our support."
