American MotoGP racer Nicky Hayden has used Twitter to detail the impending arrival of the Ducati Streetfighter 848

We've already had a sneak peek at the new Ducati Streetfighter 848 after a spy photo was (conveniently?) leaked, and now it seems as though the new bike is about to be unveiled.

MotoGP Ducati Team rider Nicky Hayden recently used Twitter to publish this image of the new middleweight Streetfighter bike - a sharper, racier naked bike than the popular Monster.

The bike was mostly under wraps at Ducati's Borgo Panigale manufacturing plant in Italy, but it provides enough of a glimpse to confirm its production ready status. That and the fact Hayden's tweet was  titled "Coming soon... Ducati DroppingOnMonday".

So it would be fair to say that Ducati will unveil its new Streetfighter 848 on Monday (which will be Tuesday in Australia).

There's not much to see from the image, save for the bold yellow colour and Brembo calipers, but the design is expected to be a mild evolution of the current Ducati Streetfighter.

Power is expected to come from Ducati 848 superbike, namely the Testastretta Evoluzione V-twin. When slung beneath the new Streetfighter, that particular donk should develop between 130 and 140 horsepower (95 to 103kW) and will be tuned less for top-end thrills and more for mid-range spark.

Combined with flat handlebars and a more comfortable upright seating position than its sports bike siblings, the new Streetfighter should be a real urban weapon.

Stay tuned for the reveal next week, when we'll have a better idea of exactly how much power the bike has, and what sort of extras it gets, such as electronic riding aids, chassis components and accessories.
