Making its racing debut this weekend at the Australian Supersport Championship at Hidden Valley in Darwin, the new 2011 Triumph Daytona 675R is on sale to the public for $15,890, not including onroad costs.
The up-spec sports bike comes standard with plenty of high end componentry, including factory-fitted Öhlins suspension, a quick-shifter for faster gear changes and Brembo brakes.
Finished in a 'crystal white' colour, the 2011 Triumph Daytona 675R also sports new graphics to denote its upgraded chassis components, with a new tank script plus a black belly pan and red sub-frame.
Other features include the aforementioned quickshifter for clutchless upshifts through the gears, and plenty of carbon fibre parts have been fitted, such as the rear hugger, front fender and exhaust heat shield. The bike also gets a lap timer and adjustable gear shift lights like the standard models.
Also similar to the standard Daytona 675 is the engine, a 675cc inline triple, generating 125hp (92kW) at 12,600rpm and a very handy 72Nm of torque.
Perhaps the most impressive aspect of the 2011 Daytona 675R is the upgraded Öhlins suspension. Suspending the front wheel are high grade 43mm Öhlins NIX30 forks, normally the reserve of exotic Italian machines, designed to deliver sharper turn-in and steering response. The Öhlins TTX36 rear suspension unit was developed with input from MotoGP teams. Both front and rear suspension setups are fully adjustable.
Add radially-mounted monoblock Brembo calipers and a radial master cylinder also from the Italian brake specialist, and the result is a recipe for improved performance.
Triumph will also offer a range of accessories for the Daytona 675R, such as race style CNC machined levers, a single seat cowl and an Arrow slip on exhaust.
