Anyone with a penchant for historic Italian motorcycles will be interesting to know that MV Agusta has opened a new heritage section on its website at MVagusta.it.
Showcasing road and race bikes from the 1940s, '50s, '60s and '70s, the new digital destination begins with MV Agusta's first production model, the MV 98cc from 1945.
The manufacture of the first MV was "an event which marked the birth of MV Agusta at the factory of Verghera". Incidentally it was this factory that helped form the company's name -- Meccanica Verghera, short for MV.
During the post-war era the Italian company was pumping out small motorcycles to furnish increased demand as the fighting subsided.
What followed was the development of several race bikes, which lead to some impressive results during the marque's 25-year hey-day between 1952 and 1976. All told, the motorcycle maker took out 37 Manufacturers' World Championships, 38 Riders' World Championships and 270 Grand Prix victories.
