Based on the Moto Guzzi V7 Classic, this limited edition V7 Racer is expected to be in high demand thanks to its eye-catching appearance and a number of unique touches.
Expected to arrive in Australia in the first quarter of 2011, Sydney-based John Sample Automotive (JSA) told the Bikesales Network that the new V7 Racer would be coming Down Under in very limited quantities, estimated to be around 20 to 25 units. Pricing has not yet been nailed down, but expect to pay a premium over the $14,690 Moto Guzzi V7 Cafe Classic.
Built around a red frame and sporting lots of shiny bits, Moto Guzzi claims the V7 Racer has been designed for the gentleman in the mood for a track day. Powered by the same 744cc 90-degree V-twin engine as the standard Guzzi V7, the bike pumps out 49hp (36kW) and 54Nm of torque, though the Italian company does offer an optional Arrow exhaust that may improve power by quite a few horses - and this will be available to Australian customers.
The major changes are mainly cosmetic, but things like the chrome tank complete with leather strap, polished cylinder heads, hand-crafted brushed aluminium side panels and the suede single-seater saddle combine to deliver an impressive visual effect.
Other extras such as the racing number holders, a teeny-tiny front screen, red coloured wheel hubs and spark plug leads contribute to the Guzzi's custom look. And check out the yoke -- it's rather special (we've included some close-up shots in there for your viewing pleasue).
While the engine remains unfettled the chassis gets a number of tasty components, including a four-pot Brembo caliper on a 320mm front disc, 40mm Marzocchi front forks and fully adjustable Bitubo rear shock absorbers.
