The new Gas Gas PRO models have arrived in Australia, with changes to engines, chassis and looks

Spanish motorcycle maker Gas Gas has taken the wraps off its 2010 range of trials bikes, making a number of changes -- both cosmetic and mechanical.

The European bike builder explains that "because the bikes had major changes for 2009 with the new tubular frame (which has been an outstanding success)… the 2010 models are simply ‘improved and refined'."

New for the 2010 range of moto trials PRO models are revised colour schemes, with black plastics, red frames and new decals. Look at little closer and you'll note the colour anodised rims and a few other parts finished in a "cool" titanium colour.

As well as visual changes, the 2010 Gas Gas Trials bikes also pick up a range of mechanical revisions, including new S3 titanium front header pipes, stronger radiators, improved wiring looms and upgraded front fork internals for the Marzocchi units, similar to the parts used in the 2009 Raga special edition models.

All models in the 2010 PRO range also get new handlebars and clutch lever, a black swingarm, new front mudguard and a bashplate with a saw tooth grip base for "improved hold on tricky surfaces" says Gas Gas.

Along with other minor changes, such as a new chain tensioner, modifications to the kickstart mechanism and gearbox cluster, specific models (PRO 250cc , 280cc , and 300cc) also get updated S3 'two-piece' cylinder heads. These bad boys allow for improved flexibility in terms of engine response, with low, medium or high compression inserts to suit different scenarios. The PRO300 also gains a Vertex piston.

Interestingly, the 2010 model Gas Gas PRO125 will get the new crankshaft that is fitted to the RAGA-125, not to mention a new carburetor.

All told, the change to the 2010 Gas Gas MotoTrials sound significant enough to warrant a closer inspection, and you Gas Gas Motos Australia has more than 20 dealers Australia wide. Visit  Gasser.com.au or contact Gas Gas Motos Australia, tel (02) 9966 5562.
