Updated model delivers new colour schemes, and the chunky 109 cubic inch V-twin still packs a punch

The 2010 Suzuki Boulevard M109R 'muscle cruiser' has arrived in Australia, sporting a number of low-key changes.

From a distance you'd be hard pressed to spot the differences over the 2009 model, but chief among them are new hues; blue or black colour schemes. And that's about it really.

There is also an up-spec model, the Suzuki Boulevard M109RZ, which adds yet another colour scheme (black/orange), clear indicator and brake lamp lenses, black wheels and a Boulevard logo embossed into the seat cover.

Pricing for the 2010 Suzuki Boulevard M109R starts $18,990 before on-road costs are added, and the M109RZ model is priced from $19,490 before on-road costs. Both models come with a two year, unlimited kilometre warranty.

Like the chassis and pretty much the entire bike, the engine has been carried over from the '09 model, a chunky 109 cubic-inch (1783cc) V-twin, hence the M109R name. This engine pumps away beneath a large 19-litre fuel tank.

A 240mm rear Dunlop tyre is the widest hoop used by Suzuki on any motorcycle, and the Japanese motorcycle company uses brakes from its GSX-R sportsbike models -- 310mm front rotors with four-pot calipers and a single 275mm rear rotor, clamped by a twin piston caliper.

The intrusment cluster is mounted on the handlebars, which includes a digital tach, while the LCD speedo is mounted on the fuel gauge.
