This special Brutale naked bike was built as a one-off special to help spruik the city of Milan. Canberra next?

Italian motorcycle maker MV Agusta doesn't have a huge range of motorcycles - though the new 675cc F3 is expected to boost the company's fortunes in 2011 - so whenever something new occurs, it tends to make a lot of noise.

Exhibit a) the MV Agusta Brutale 990R in Milanese livery.

This one-off motorcycle design involving some new red stickers was created to help represent and promote the city of Milan and its achievements, and will form part of a larger project whose contents will be displayed in Piazza Duomo.

The Head of Tourism, Marketing and Regional Identity in Milan, Alessandro Morelli said the new drive "Proposes products that communicate the essence of the city: research, taste, excellence and innovation, making each of us true ambassadors of Milan."

Hence the MV Agusta Brutale 990R in Milanese livery.

However something tells us that MV Agusta may need to do a little more than just add new stickers to its bikes to attract new customers. The new three-cylinder F3 model will certainly help, but Castiglioni and co will need a few more models to keep things interesting in the mid-term future.

And as the situation stands in Australia, there is still no local distributor for MV Agusta after the Queensland-based Paul Feeney Group ended its relationship with MV Agusta.
