Korean marque sold more GT650Rs in January than its closest rival, the Yamaha R1

Hyosung has had a strong start to 2010, taking the No. 1 spot in the sportsbike category for new motorcycle sales.

During January 2010, the Hyosung GT650R was the best-selling sportsbike, beating other models such as the Honda CBR600RR.

It pipped the Yamaha YZF-R1 by just four units, a feat described as an "especially pleasing result for Hyosung," by Hyosung Australia's marketing manager Mal Jarrett.

"Since the release of the new fuel injected range last year, sales of the Hyosung range in general has lifted significantly," added Jarrett.

The GT650R has an ace up its sleeve, as it can be supplied in 40kW LAMS form, broadening its target market significantly.
