Due to an issue with the centrifugal clutch, Can-Am Spyder's with the SE5 auto gearbox have been recalled

BRP is recalling its Can-Am Spyder Can-Am Spyder Roadster RT and RS models with the SE5 semi-automatic transmission, due to a clutch issue.

The recall has been issued because of a defect in the SE5 semi-automatic transmission that may make it "impracticable to push the vehicle off the roadway increasing the risk of a crash possibly resulting in injury or death," according to the official recall.

"When bringing a vehicle equipped with the SE5 semi-automatic transmission to a full stop, the clutch may remain engaged stalling the engine. Once the engine is stalled, it could be impossible to re-start and the rear wheel could be blocked," reads the recall notice.

The recall affects Can-Am Spyder models sold in Australia New Zealand, Asia and Pacific Islands.

Owners are advised to contact their BRP Spyder dealer to make an appointment to have their vehicles repaired. A new centrifugal clutch assembly with added components will be installed free of cost.
