And get in quick for $500 off normal retail

Piaggio is offering a discount of $500 off the listed price of the GTS250ie, one of its most enduring models.

Paying homage to the original 1946 vintage Vespa (pictured), Piaggio reckons the quarter litre GTS250 scooter is one of the longest-lived in the market, with solid build quality and a strong engine seeing "a large number of which are now heading to the 30,000km zone".

The Vespa GTS 250 will continue through into 2010 alongside Vespa's other 'big' scooters: the GTV250ie and GTS300 Super. And at present buyers can save $500 off the normal $8490 price for the GTS250ie, now offered at $7990 (not including statutory and delivery charges).

So popular has the GTS 250 been, that it has overtaken the GT 200 in total sales. Piaggio claims it is "widely acknowledged as the best 250 class motor in the scooter market today," boasting good fuel economy and an ability to travel comfortably at 100km/h freeway speeds.

The Vespa GTS 250 comes in five colours: silver, red, yellow, dark blue and a new metallic black for 2010 called 'Nero volcano'.
