Mark Savage has broken the 24 hour Motocross endurance world record in Queensland

The place was Jimboomba Queensland, the course was a 24 hour Motocross endurance event. And the spoils? A new world record.

Husqvarna rider Mark Savage set a new world record on the weekend, riding his Husky TC 450, all of which was for a good cause – raising money for the community, including kids with cancer, special needs children and local businesses.

The event officially kicked off at 10:00am on Saturday the September 26th and ended the next day, at 10:00am on Sunday September 27th.

During this 24 hour window Mark completed 317 laps of the course, which is equal to a full National level 10-round Motocross season.

While the world record has been submitted to the Guinness Book of Records for approval, it is expected to be confirmed mid-October to be entered into this year's list.

"It was very difficult to prepare for an event such as this," explained Mark Savage, who faced draining 30 degree heat during the event.

"I've done plenty of gym work and multiple eight hour sessions on the bike but it was still a shock to the system to be on the bike going hard for that amount of time.

"The Husqvarna TC 450 ran really strong all weekend and I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Paul Feeney Group and Kurt at Full Throttle Motorcycles for their support in making this record attempt such a success," added Mark.

While Mark and his Husqvarna TC 450 completed 317 laps of the course, more laps would have been theoretically possible were it not for the 50 minute intervals needed for refuelling and course maintenance.

One of the requirements of the event was that regular track maintenance was undertaken to ensure the technical aspects of the course were maintained, not to mention the watering that was needed to reduce environmental impact.
