Honda's new 2010 model CRF450R has landed in Australia, bringing with it a number of "small, yet significant" changes says the company.
One such significant feature is a new engine auto decompressor system that improves kick starting and the suspension has been given several tweaks to improve the accuracy of jumps and increase manoeuvrability.
Take the 2010 model Honda CRF450R's front end for instance: it gets new front fork oil seals plus different oil quantity and valving, which should improve front end feel.
The rear end, meanwhile, gets a tweaked damper that takes advantage of a redesigned piston and compression adjuster, which have been designed to "provide for a smoother ride and stronger acceleration over rugged terrain" says Honda.
As well as the new engine auto decompressor system, the powertrain benefits from a number of other modifications, including an updated ECU with a new fuel injection map that should provide a bit more hustle. To quote Honda, the injection mapping tweaks will "improve off-on throttle response when exiting corners".
Those riders looking at a competition bike should note the addition of a new connecting system for the HRC fuel injection setting tool, which simplifies access to the injection settings and therefore means you don't need to remove the fuel tank.
Furthermore, a pair of attachment tabs for the air filter will improve maintenance.
All the CRF450R's dominant features remain, such as the long swingarm, high ground clearance, slim frame and low centre of gravity, and the 2010 CRF450R is available in Honda dealerships now.
