The 2009 Sydney Motorcycle Show is shaping up to be a star-studded event, despite what has been a gloomy year for bike sales.

To be held from November 20-22, the Sydney Motorcycle Show will take place at the Sydney Showgrounds where more than 400 new motorbikes from at least 16 manufacturers will be on display, with a total of more than 120 exhibitors showing equipment, accessories and technologies and also service providers.

The big names will be there, including Suzuki, Yamaha, Honda, Kawasaki, BMW Motorrad, Ducati, Triumph, Harley-Davidson, MV Agusta, Husqvarna, KTM, Victory, Hyosung, Piaggio, Vespa, Gilera and many more besides.

The Sydney Motorcycle Show organisers reckon it's the perfect place for buyers to go because they can several bikes from different brands under the one roof - something that's not always possible at dealerships.

"The Sydney Motorcycle Show caters to all budgets and offers the biggest variety of bikes from renowned and trusted brands the world over, all on one showroom floor for simple comparison," Event Manager Mark Petersen.

"A number of models will be uncovered ahead of their official release to the market, giving visitors a first-hand look at the technology, form and features that will head the 2010 range."

Visitors to the Harley-Davidson stand at the show can experience the dyno drag simulator, which uses two authentic Harley-Davidson Night Rods wired to a real drag light Christmas tree.

Actual riding functions are also the real deal, offering the full riding experience.

A dyno competition will run on each day of the show, where punters can work their way through each round and up the daily leaderboard. Those with the best times will then go head-to-head in a final competition for the best overall time. The winner takes all, including a Harley-Davidson merchandise prize pack.

Harley will also offer test rides on its new 2010 arsenal at the show, including the Fat Boy Lo, Dyna Wide Glide, Electra Glide Ultra limited, Iron 883 and XR1200X.

All riders are welcome, and all they need is their riding gear and a zero alcohol level. Don't party the night before…

The show will also host a big brand motorcycle accessory and apparel clearance sale which will discount close to $1m worth of product over three days.

Brands including Dainese, Shift, Fox, Ixon, Shark, Alpinestars, RG Sport and Rivet will be on sale again with the chance for visitors to save up to and over 50 percent on regular prices.

Specials will include summer jackets from $99 and leather gloves from $30.

There will also be several of Australia's best custom bikes on display, with the East Coast Custom Australian Custom Bike Championships taking place. Furthermore, Custom Central will put a custom chopper worth $40,000 for one lucky show goer (pictured).

Alongside the static displays of 2010 models, new bikes and accessories will several attractions, one of which is the Yamaha Action Arena. Presenting several daily shows starring some of Australia's best freestyle motocross and street bike stunt riders, not to mention trials displays, it should make the price of admission well worth it.

The motorcycle show season is now in full swing, with Perth and Bendigo (Vic) both held in the last month. The Sydney Motorcycle Show will open at 10.00am each day, closing at 9.00pm on Friday, 7.00pm on Saturday and 5.00pm on Sunday November 22.
