Brit firm breaks the 3000 mark

Triumph in Australia is suitably chuffed to have had its biggest year ever, on the back of a record-breaking 2007 for the local market.

The biggest-selling Euro brand retailed 3203 machines in 2007 - the first time the Hinckley-based manufacturer has eclipsed the 3000 unit mark. Compared to the same period in 2006, Triumph grew by 16.4 percent in 2007 - or an increase of 451 units.

Australia's total roadbike market in 2007 was a whopping 45,510 units, tearing strips off the 2006 total of 38,577. The total two-wheel market, which also includes ATVs, scooters and off-road bikes, was 129,966 units.

"We are delighted with the 2007 result, which confirms our motorcycles are continuing to resonate with discerning Aussie buyers," said Kevin Greaney, the General Manager of Triumph Australia. "Triumph already has a great range of motorcycles, and it's only going to get better in 2008 with a number of new or updated models on showroom floors, including the Street Triple 675, which has already dominated middleweight comparos in Europe, Rocket III Touring, Speed Triple and fuel injected America.

"In particular, advance orders for the Street Triple 675 (pictured) are already outstanding, befitting a machine that some magazines have already suggested has re-written the middleweight nakedbike map.”
