The Speed Triple's about to get a little brother

Triumph's much talked about Street Triple -- effectively a mid-sized Speed Triple -- has been confirmed for Australian release in November this year, priced at $11,990 plus ORC.

The three-pot screamer is based on the firm's successful 675 sportbike, which has won its class in the international motorcycle magazine Masterbike competition two years in a row.

Local Triumph Marketing Manager Mark Fattore says interest in the machine has been strong.

"The Speed Triple is our biggest-selling bike worldwide, and the Street Triple comes with the cache of the 675 -- so we're expecting good things," he told BikePoint.

The machine will get its first public showing at the Tridays owner rally (more here) in Germany at the end of June.
