Aprilia's new 750 could represent a significant technological step for the class

Aprilia has launched the SL750 V-twin Shiver to international markets under the "Naked Passion" tagline. And though such a machine may not normally set the pulse of the local market racing, it could represent a significant technological and performance leap for its class.

Local Aprilia marketing manager Mark Barnett told BikePoint, the machine is light (189 kilos claimed), has top suspension and makes 95 horses, which should be a very lively package.

The fuel-injected machine offers fly-by-wire throttle, plus a composite frame (steel trellis matched to alloy sideplates and swingarm).

Its new powerplant carries on where the ultra-compact 450/550 twin has left off and is a pointer to where the company is heading with its large capacity machines. The company has also had a V-four under development for some years now.

We can expect to see the bike in Australia around September/October, priced in the vicinity of $15,000.

The machine has a dedicated website (more here).
